The sad truth is that teenaged girls aren't allowed to have a genuine interest in anything without being ridiculed for it.
-If a girl likes UGG boots and Starbucks she is stupid, basic and considered as stereotypical. But if she likes combat boots and obscure coffee houses she is a wannabe hipster and a try hard.
-If a girl listens to boy bands and other popular music she is a dumb follower.
-If she reads comics or plays video games she is a poser or a fake geek.
-If a girl has low self-esteem she needs to learn to love herself, but if she has a high self-esteem she is overconfident and vain.
-If a girl wears makeup she is seen as fake but if she does not wear makeup she is lazy and a slob.
-If a girl is interested in politics she is a crazy psycho social justice warrior, but if she prefers to stay out of social matters she is considered a dumb airhead.
-If a girl enjoys having sex she is a slut, but if she does not she is a prude.
Why is it that girls are literally mocked for every single little thing that they like and show interest in or do, no matter what those things are..? I am sick and tired of it. This is why girls are so insecure when they're growing up, because everything move they make is "wrong". Growing up is hard enough the way it is but to be constantly scrutinized? No thank you. Just let people like the things they do and stop making a big fuss over it.
